Ok ive got a idea to help the new indians owner who did us a big favor in taking over a team that was dismantled by its previous owner. He made 12 trades over the offseason many of which made no sense at all a few were put up for veto but you guys dont like to vetoe trades and tell owners hopw to run there team. i can understand that but with that he doesnt even have a legal 25 man roster.

so my idea is to have a expansions like draft just for the indians.
he needs 4 guys to have a 25 man legal roster.
so each team nominates two guys too choose from must be a starter no reserve guys.
cant choose from same team twice.
if a player you nominate gets selected you will get compensation in a drat pick which will come after first round.

what do you guys think??

i also have concerns about the amount of trades the old indians made i think making 12 trades in a month is absolutly ridicoulous. so there is a couple of solutions in mind to control this.

1 limit the amount of trades a team can make a year
2 charge for each trade made by teams

this will keep you guys from making nonsense trades just to make trades. i have had a few owners say that what the indians did was absolutly disgusting and changes need to be made and i absolutely agree. If you look back at some of the trades how many were helping the team out.


so give me some feedback asap so we can get this expansion draft going before seasons start if we decide to do it. Keep in mind we posted on yahoo espn fantrax for weeks and replied to post that were looking for dynasty leagues and sent them site address to look at team and no one was interested because team was that bad so nate was willing to take on such a bad team so i think we should be willing to allow him to help improve this team a little

I have no problem with putting 2 of my players up to be drafted by Indians. I agree making 12 trades in a month is too much.
If we put a limit on trades and a team reaches their limit and then loses some player to injuries and can't field every position in their lineup, then they should be able to ask permission to make another trade. (Example) Your starting SS gets hurt and you don't have anyone to replace him
then you should be able to trade for a SS so you can field a full lineup.

I agree with Nationals on the trading. In general, I don't think we should respond to idiocy with rules because it has impacts (to other mangers) beyond the goal.

I'm OK with the concept of offering players for the Indians. But first, why not look at the waiver wire. There are playable players out there.

Jon Jay, Chris Young, Jason Kubel, Raul Ibanez, Nick Hundley - No one great but some starters, plenty of at bats there.

There is also a handful of starting pitchers out there.

Trey, none of those guys will help him build team into a decent team for the future. It would take him years to make that team competitive if we didn't do an expansion draft because I'm willing to bet the Indians would not return on his own dime next year for that disgusting excuse of a team. Not to mention all those guys are players that have sat on the wire and passed over by every team... he wasn't even here for free agency I feel like expansion draft is the only option here.

Expansion draft would be fine with me.
I would not want a cap on trades or for it to cost money. I took over the Marlins and they were just terrible and had people on his roster that weren't even in MLB so I had to make a bunch of moves, which I am sure was more than 12 trades since I've been here.

so it seems like you guys are fine with allowing owners to make trades to destroy teams i guess you havent tried finding a owner for that team you guys dont like having trades vetoed well somthings gotta change im not gonna allow this trype of thing happen again.

so the last option for this problem we have is when a questionable trade comes up i will ask each owner what there thinking is on making the trade and make the decision myself not a league wide vote

Re: Brandon - I agree in theory. I just don't think we can expect managers to give up anything that makes a significant impact on their own team.

Let's identify the specific positions he needs. Catcher, 2B, 2 OF and 1 UTIL, right? His pitching staff and relievers actually look fine but he might need another SP or two

I currently have 3 2Bs and a surplus of OF. I can nominate one of each.

the players nominated must be real life starters im not saying put up your best players but if they are starters they gotta be more usable than fa. nate did us a big favor by taking on a team that no one else would so we should do him a favor and give him opportunity to improve team

I can give Gordon Beckham and Josh Willingham or Nate McLouth, McLouth should get plenty of time even though he's a 4th OF. It would be nice to get a minor leaguer in return. Can we try to trade first?
