this trade will go to a league vetoe vote each team accept the teams involved will get a vote.
Reason for this trade going to a vote is that the players involved are fair but the Houston Astros are getting a franchise tag for free and looking at previous trades for tags and what they are getting in return makes this trade unequal.I asked two of our original members and this is what we came up with so the veto vote will remain open for 72 hours

Guess I didn't realize the value of the tag but he did mention it before the trade....what is the value of it?

It's worth whatever someone needs it for. The one I asked for is to make sure I keep Upton for longer than the 2 yrs left. Recently they've gotten traded one year for a future year and in another instance it was a good pitching prospect and McLouth and a setup reliever.

Also consider the fact that current year franchise tags and future year ones are not close to the same value. Current year is worth a lot more. Smiley paid what he had to in order to keep someone right now. He was under the wire. 2016 is not nearly as valuable because there are 2 full years to trade for one or trade the player that is set to expire. Big difference.

What exactly is D-backs getting in this trade? A downgrade at both positions and a young player with 236 ABs?

I normally do not argue trades others make - while it appears on the surface that goldy and upton _ 2016 FT is with more (at least to me) than Rizzo/Braun and Lake - Braun (if he's not using and is able to produce as he has in the past) is equal to goldy, and Rizzo has the "potential" to be as good as Upton has been, Lake would be just a thrown in to me -
With that being said, I personally would't give up Goldy and Upton for the other 3 and would jump at the chance to get Goldy and Upton for Braun/Rizzo and Lake -
but I would not veto the trade
